A new search area may be opened in the Indian Ocean as authorities try to determine what happened to a missing Malaysian airliner^{1, the White House said on Thursday.}

现在主要的搜索方法为海上搜索（sea search）和空中搜索（air search），各国均派出海军舰船（navy vessels）、飞机和直升机（aircrafts and helicopters）等参与搜救。同时，中国已调动了高分、海洋、风云、遥感4个系列近10颗卫星，为马航失联客机MH370的搜救行动提供技术支持（technology support）。

针对日前有关911式袭击（9/11-style attack）的传说报道，马方表示正在对所有机上乘客和机组职员进行背景排查（background check）。
