Three major Chinese airlines, including China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Air China, have been approved to provide in-flight Wi-Fi services.

空中上网服务可以有效提高旅客乘机体验，吸引旅客流量（attract passenger traffic），航空公司表示将用一流的技术（state-of-the-art technology ）提速带宽（bandwidth），或比传统技术快50倍。
现在海外航空企业的空中上网是是收费服务（paid service），现在在国内航空企业的可空中上网航班上，该服务暂时髦未向乘客收费。东航人士表示，提供空中上网，短期内会成为航空公司提供的增值服务（value-added service）的一个着力点。专家预测，空中上网服务将带来新的商机（new business opportunities），尤其是在社交媒体和数据服务方面（ data services）。
