as if引导方法状语从句，即便从句表示的是与事实相反的状况，在非正式语体也可以用陈述语气动词形式表示。

happen 这个动作时间先于went on talking的动作时间。句义决定是as从句表示的是与事实相反的状况。但陈述语气形式和虚拟语气形式是重叠的。传统语法会觉得这个句子中had happened为虚拟语气。

这个句子中，事实上我没疯，所以was mad表示的是与事实相反的。但was mad 和 looked在时间上是同时的，所以 was mad在形式上是陈述语气，尽管表示与事实相反的状况。假如was改为were 或者 had been，则为虚拟语气形式。
