We have been brought up to fear insects. Weregard them as unnecessary creatures that do more harm than good. Wecontinually wage war on them, for they contaminate our food, carry diseases, ordevour our crops. We live indread not only of unpleasant insects like spiders or wasps, but of quiteharmless ones like moths. Reading about them increases our understandingwithout dispelling our fears. Nomatter how much we like honey, or howmuch we have read about the uncannysense of direction which bees possess, we have a horror of being stung.Most of our fears are unreasonable, but they are impossible to erase. At thesame time, however, insects are strangely fascinating. We enjoy reading aboutthem, especially when we find that, like the praying mantis, they leadperfectly horrible lives. We enjoy staring at them, entranced as they go abouttheir business, unaware of our presence. Who has not stood in awe atthe sight of a spider pouncing on a fly, or a column of ants triumphantlybearing home an enormous dead beetle?

2) knowing 这个动名词前面感觉要加尽管“Though或Although”句意才通顺呀？ No matterhow much we like honey, or how much we have read...= However much we likehoney, or howeve much we have read...吗？
3)which bees possess 的先行词应该是整个的“ the uncanny sense of direction”，而不是“direction”吧？We have ahorror of = We "still" havea horror句意才通顺？
1 不定式to fear insects为结果状语。
2 Knowing that the industrious ant lives in a highly organized society 这个动名词短语作主语，能在前面加连词吗？分词作状语可以加连词强调状语的意义，你混淆了动名词和目前分词。这里是不能加连词的！
no matter how引导让步状语从句，可以用however替换，但本句有二个much，还是用no matter how更为适合。

让步从句和主句之间本身就隐含着still，所以没必要讲出。
