上面的从句和主句同时用了would，主句里的would always是不是表示过去的习惯，是不是等于you used to bethere to try to cheer me up？而时间状语从句里的would又如何理解呢？

when从句用would, 表明说话人的意愿，即当我想哭的时候，类似使用方法也可以在if从句见到,如：If you will take these cases and decide them solely upon the evidence, I am sure you will have no difficulty in arriving at proper verdicts.主要would 这里可以理解为过去以后时使用方法，也可以理解为过去习惯。甚至你不需要would,直接用you were always there也可以，但不如加上will/would 更正式。
