门神的故事:

Janus是天宫的守门人,天天早晨把天宫的门打开,让阳光照耀大地;晚上把门关上,让夜幕即将来临。古罗马人在每年的第一天和天天清晨都要向他祈祷,以求每件事顺利。被叫做双面人的Janus模样奇特,他长着正反两个头与两张面孔,有些时候甚至有四张脸,他被奉为伊特鲁里亚之神(Etruscan deity1)。

战神与门神亚努斯(Janus)在罗马神话里代表各种门与出入口,开始与结束。 古罗马国王弩玛为其做为战神象征而建造的亚努斯神殿前后有两扇门,名为亚努斯之门,此两扇门在战争时期打开,在和平常期关闭。因而January(n.1月)作为衔接新旧两年的月份就以他命名。

arch 的起源:

古人用手(臂arm)劳作和制造工具。而人类的早期武器是弓和箭,由于它可以远距离攻击。

而箭术最好者自然就成为统治者,所以词根arch表示为首的;非常重要的;首领意思;这里arch原为arc。因为英语遭到法语的影响+h或h掉落其含义不变,主如果由于法语中h不送气也就是不发音;比如hard可以转变成arduous 依旧表示努力的意思。

monarch5 君主,anarchy6 无政府状况,anarchist无政府主义者等都是源自此词根含义。

大伙可以通字母C形象的想到弓的形状,手臂上拿着弓(arm+carc)所以arc表示弓型的、弧形的;同时游牧民族的屋顶也是弧形的,所以arc又有了屋顶的含意。

从arch首领,统治者这个意义,大家又可以发现archaic8古时候的含意,由于只有古时候帝王和统治者才被记入历史史册,真的创造历史的人民群众却淹没于历史的洪流之中,所以archive表示档案,考查历史就成了考古学archaeology9.
