请问用了介词for，跟没用介词for有什么区别？还是下面一个句子是错的？

在非正式的美国英语里，like, hate, mean, intend 和其他表示类似意思的动词都可以与 for 结构连用。在英国英语里，一般不可以如此用。（摘自《牛津英语使用方法指南》第四版113.7节）这里的 for 结构即“for + 宾语 + 动词不定式”结构。
