IELTS听力横听笔记场景－面貌（Appearance）
描述人物面貌特点的场景，即面貌场景是IELTS的一个考试知识点，这个考试知识点仅出目前Section1中，依据统计结果，在过去已经考过的Version中，有3个Version考到了面貌场景，它们分别是：Version 23的Section 1; Version 25的Section 1; Version 31的Section 1。下面第一介绍一下这三个Version的具体考试知识点：
Version 23: 两名强盗打劫了一位老妇人，证人向警察描述两个罪犯的特点，证人描述the young thief was 17 years old, curly black hair, tall and slim，whereas the elder thief was 35 years old, the distinguished1 feature was a small scar in his chin.
Version 25: Alex向一个男生描述她的祖母：Alexs grandmother came from Russia and she was a dancer，her appearance was blond hair and beautiful.
Version 31: 需要考生选出一个男孩的特点，文章说他wear glasses and with beard and moustache
这个考试知识点容易见到的题型为填空题和选择题（包含文字选择和图形选择）。为了在这部分上不失分，考生必须要熟知容易见到的描述人物面貌特点的词语与常见的表达方法。主要的特点类别包含年龄、体型、面部特点、头发、着装等。下面分别对这类类别加以描述。
年龄：young（年轻的）,old（年长的）, years old（岁数）
体型：tall（高），high（高）,short（矮）, small （矮小的），fat（胖），stocky（结实的），slim（瘦的）, thin（瘦的），slender（苗条的），medium-built（中等身材的）。Beautiful（好看的）, 170 centimeters tall（读作one metre seventy-five，170cm高）。同时大伙应记住这类词适当的组合方法，譬如tall and slim，不应该是short and slim。
面部特点： beard（下巴上的胡子）and moustache（上唇的胡子）,clean-shaven（胡子刮得非常干净），dimple（酒窝）, scar（疤痕），chin。注意这类词的相互搭配。譬如a small scar in his chin。常佩带的东西有jewelry（珠宝），hat和glasses（眼镜）。
头发：curly black hair（卷曲的黑色头发）, blond hair（金发）, pigtail（辫子）, wavy2 hair（卷发）, straight hair（直发）, short hair（短发）, long hair（长发）, spiky3 hair（短而直的头发）。
着装： formal dress（正式的服饰）：suit and tie（西服领带），casual dress（非正式的服饰）：jeans and T shirts（牛仔裤T恤衫），loose clothes（宽松的服饰），tight clothes（紧身服），shirt（男式衬衣），女裙（skirt），white（白色）,dark（黑色）,black（黑色）,light（浅色）。
注意：在描述一个人的特点时，大多数场所是用一定句直接陈述出来的，但有时会用一些语气和否定句来表达前后之间的变化，听的时候必须要小心。譬如下面的例句：
问题：What does Bill look like now?
文本：Youve changed since this photo! What happened to your beard and moustache? And youre not wearing glasses either.
大伙第一应该听到这句话的关键字changed，下面的一句话What happened to your beard and moustache? 说明Bill已经没胡子了；而And youre not wearing glasses either，是一个否定句，他也不戴眼镜了，考生应该可以听出not这个词，除此之外either也是不是定句的一个标志。依据这两个特点即可选出正确答案
